St. Andrew's Place is a nonprofit assisted living facility whose mission is to assist with care and compassion, while enhancing the right of choice, dignity and independence for those they serve. It is the only regular assisted living facility in Clallam County that accepts Medicaid. St. Andrew's Place provides three levels of care as well as three meals a day, nutritious snacks, expert personal care, group activities and exercise, and more. In addition, residents are able to bring their small pet with them if they choose.

Laura Dodd, Administrator of St. Andrew's Place, speaks to the level of commitment her staff has to their residents, “We believe all of our seniors deserve good care no matter what their financials are. Everyone has their own apartment with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Everyone is individualized because their needs are individualized.” Laura continues, reflecting on the role of United Way in the community:

“One of the things I think that is really great about the United Way is it tackles a lot of the issues we have in our community. I focus on our seniors, but I do care about the other things-the kids, literacy, healthy families-and I know that by supporting United Way, I’m also supporting those causes.”

Our seniors deserve a safe place to call home.

Keeping Residents Safe

During United Way of Clallam County's Partner Agency visits in 2023, United Way staff and board members learned that St. Andrew's Place needed to replace the fire / smoke detection system. The expense would be an enormous burden for the nonprofit organization, who had already begun plans for a fundraising event. The United Way Funds Distributions Committee determined that an Impact Grant of $50,000 should be provided to St. Andrew's Place. The gift covered the entire cost of this essential replacement and repair.

"Peoples have passions throughout the community and the United Way kind of brings us together so that we can all work together... With the impact grant, the United Way chose us for the work we're doing in the community. It's going to be a huge help."
